Who’s playing

Tulane @ South Florida

Current Records: Tulane 5-1; South Florida 1-5

What to know

This Saturday, the South Florida Bulls are hoping to repair gaps in a defense that averaged 36.33 points per game. South Florida and Tulane Green Wave will face off Saturday at 4 p.m. ET in an American Athletic battle at Raymond James Stadium. Tulane will stalk after a win while the Bulls will stumble after a defeat.

South Florida may have collected first blood against the Cincinnati Bearcats last week, but it was Cincinnati that had the last laugh. South Florida was at an impressive distance but failed to close the gap as they fell 28-24 against the Bearcats. Despite the defeat, South Florida got a solid performance from QB Gerry Bohanon, who went for two TDs and 139 yards in 21 attempts as well as collecting 117 yards on the ground. Bohanon’s longest run was 59 yards in the third quarter.

Meanwhile, Green Wave had enough points to win and then some against the East Carolina Pirates last week, leading the game 24-9. Tulane QB Michael Pratt did his thing and passed for two TDs and 326 yards on 34 attempts as well as punching in a quick touchdown.

South Florida needs to know they will be fighting an uphill battle given the 12-point spread they face. Those who got lucky with them against the spread last week may want to avoid placing bets this time around as the team has yet to put together streak wins against the spread.

South Florida found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unfortunate 45-14 stomach punch against Tulane when the two teams met earlier in November last year. Maybe the Bulls will have better luck at home than on the street? Watch the match and come back to CBS Sports for all the details.
