After a week off, the UFC returns to its home at APEX in Las Vegas on Saturday night for a featherweight bout in the main event with implications for the 125-pound division title. Alexa Grasso (-225) is the favorite on SI Sportsbook as she faces Viviane Araújo (+190). The winner of this fight gets in position for a shot at Valentina Shevchenko’s belt. Grasso has been undefeated since she joined this division, while her opponent in Araújo is taking a big win in August against Andrea Lee.

SI MMA writer Justin Barrasso:
It’s been a long time for Alexa Grasso. Seven years ago, it seemed like the next big thing when she put on a surprisingly masterful performance against Mizuki Inoue, but it didn’t generate enough momentum. Maybe this will change on Saturday.
If Grasso wins against Viviane Araujo, especially convincingly, he should be next in line for reigning champion Valentina Shevchenko.

SI producer Doug Vazquez:
The main event on this card has Fight of the Night potential, in my opinion. This is a very interesting clash of styles, with Grasso known for his shots while the BJJ black belt in Araújo is known as the best grappler. Grasso isn’t necessarily known for her takedown defense, so I’m sure she’s focused a lot in this area on that aspect of her game. If he can keep this fight in the middle of the Octagon, I think his boxing is just too much for Araújo to deal with. However, I see the potential that this fight goes to the judges and Grasso comes out with the decision.

Julian Pinto of SI Video:
I am interested in the Tetsuya Tairo-Cj Vergara match as Tairo tries to get his second UFC win. Both men don’t normally leave it to the judges and I expect Tairo to get the finish. Tairo’s shot is very clean and he uses it to complete his ground game well. Vergara has won a good portion of his games from finishing, and I believe Tairo’s shots and distance management will force a then frustrated Vergara to drop his game plan and sell out, which will leave a wide opening for Tairo. . I think Tairo gets the knockdown and finishes CJ Vergara by submission.
BET: Tairo via SUB +350
