Paulina Porizkova explains why the dating pool at 57 is more like a ‘dirty little puddle’

Great news, single women! Online dating is also booming as you get older, even if you’re a supermodel.

At least, that’s according to Paulina Porizkova. On an episode of Jada Pinkett Smith’s “Red Table Talk.”Wednesday, Porizkova — best known as a Sports Illustrated cover star in the 1980s who went on to land a coveted contract with Estée Lauder — spoke hilariously about her current single status.

“I’m 57 now and I’m in the dating pool,” Porizkova said about 30 minutes into the episode, streamed on Facebook Watch.

“How?” Pinkett Smith asked, to which Porizkova answered plainly, “It’s a small pool, a dirty little puddle.”

She then explained why online dating, especially for older people, “sucks.” According to Porizkova, it’s because there are very limited options.

“It turns out that on dating apps, men our age… who are willing to sleep with women our age have already slept with all my girlfriends,” she said.

“There are like these five guys that we keep passing around. And they’re like, ‘So you’ve slept with him yet?’ ‘Yes, don’t worry.’ ‘OK, fine thanks,’” Porizkova said, mimicking conversations she has with her friends.

This isn’t the first time Porizkova has complained about dating. When People magazine asked her in April to describe her romantic life, she Porizkova replied with one simple word: “Shit!”

The famously married supermodel Ric Ocasek, the lead singer of Cars, in 1989 after the two worked together on the 1984 “Drive” music video, in which Porizkova co-starred.

The couple separated in 2017, but Porizkova continued to ‘Red Table Talk’ and in the new memoir ‘No Filter’ she continued to live with and care for Ocasek even after they split. In 2019, I found him deadin her bedroom while recovering from surgery.

At the time of Ocasek’s death, the two were filing for divorce. Porizkova was surprised to later learn that the singer had disinherited her in her will, claiming that before her intervention she had “abandoned” him.

During her appearance on Red Table Talk, Porizkova opened up about their marriage and the stress of dating a rock star, bonding over what Porizkova described as her other romantic heartache.

The model said she’s only dated famous people, adding that her friends think the former Cars first lady should shift gears and seek out “real people, real men who will respect you.”

Porizkova said she tried. To hear what she has to say about Raya’s alleged move to Bumble, watch the full interview above.
