Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State: Prediction, Pick, Spread, Game Odds, Live Stream, Watch Online, TV Channel

Revenge is on the mind as Oklahoma hosts Oklahoma State at its annual Bedlam meeting in Norman, Oklahoma on Saturday. The Sooners have one last opportunity to build some hope for their fans after putting together a miserable 2022 campaign. Oklahoma is 5-5 and battling for bowl eligibility after hitting 11-2 last season, and the Sooners’ nine-game hitting streak against West Virginia was ended last week in a 23-20 loss after allowing backup quarterback Garrett Greene rushing for 119 yards and two touchdowns.

Oklahoma State has slowed down with defensive injuries but remains a contender in the run to the Big 12 Championship Game with a 7-3 record. The Cowboys beat Iowa State 20-14 as quarterback Spencer Sanders came off the bench to lead a pair of scoring drives as he threw for 84 yards and a touchdown.

Oklahoma has dominated Bedlam, historically, with a 90-19-7 lead and a 14-2 winning record against Mike Gundy to start 2021. Gundy, however, beat the Sooners 37-33 last season in what turned out to be Lincoln Riley’s last game against eliminating Oklahoma from the Big 12 Championship Game for the first time since it was reinstated. Now, Gundy looks to put together his first streak against the Sooners since he took over in 2005.

Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State: Need to Know

Two broken teams: Both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are expected to rank as top contenders for the Big 12 championship. However, Oklahoma is officially out of the picture after snapping its first losing record in conference play since 1998. ‘Oklahoma is still alive in the contest, but injuries have decimated what was once one of the best teams in the Big 12. The Cowboys lost to Kansas with quarterback Spencer Sanders out of the lineup, and he had to reinstate Sanders to escape state of Iowa. The outcome of this game may depend on which Oklahoma State players are healthy enough to play.

Soon disappointing: Oklahoma was one of college football’s most disappointing teams in Brent Venables’ first season. Too many key stats include “since 1998,” the year before Bob Stoops took over the program when the Sooners wandered into the desert. Nearly every major facet of Oklahoma collapsed under Venables, including a defense that now ranks 94th in scoring defense and 109th in total defense. However, losing to Oklahoma State in back-to-back seasons would be the ultimate shame for a program that hasn’t lost back-to-back games to the Pokes since 2002.

Opposite Styles: Both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State have found different recipes for building consistency on offense. Oklahoma leads the Big 12 in rushing offense with 221.4 yards per game behind 1,100+ yards for running back Eric Gray. Oklahoma State, by contrast, is totally dependent on quarterback Spencer Sanders to keep the offense going. Sanders ranks in the top 25 nationally in total individual offense and leads an OSU team that ranks second in the Big 12 in passing offense. The gap in experience and composure among Bedlam signalmen could make all the difference.
