Megan Thee Stallion performs, presents “SNL”

It was an important year for Megan Thee Stallion and, in many ways, a difficult one too.

In the last year alone, the successful rapper not only released her album Traumazina and has performed all over the world, but also graduated.

She also talked about how she is still coping with her mother’s death in 2019. The fallout from when she was shot in 2020 is also ongoing; rapper Tory Lanez will be tried for assault later this year.

Then, just last week, thieves broke into his Los Angeles home, stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of items, according to TMZ.

The LAPD did not immediately respond to a request for comment from BuzzFeed News, but in a tweet the next night, Megan seemed to recognize the burglary and expressed her relief that no one was hurt.

Megan appeared on Saturday Live Saturday night both as a conductor and as a musical guest, becoming the second female rapper ever to do so. (Queen Latifah performed and hosted in 2004.)

In her opening monologue, she talked about the toll he has taken on her this time. “Finishing college while pursuing a rap career isn’t easy, and I did it while releasing song after song and doing a world tour. So now I can use another name: Megan Thee Bitch That Needs Some Sleep,” he joked.

Friday, in front of her SNL wait, Megan told fans she should “take a break” later, saying on Twitter that she is “so tired, physically and emotionally”.

Fans praised the performance, particularly for how much strength he has shown in everything he’s going through.

People really underestimate the shit going through Megan, she’s really out here trying to keep it together without her biggest supporters. It takes so much strength to endure that kind of loss and still be willing to wake up and face the day.

People couldn’t last a mile as Megan. She’s been through more than others and still she lets her light shine brightly and beautifully and that’s all I have to say #SNL
