Is the FBI giving an “illusion” that domestic terror has increased since January 6? Whistleblower Steve Friend speaks

FBI whistleblower Steve Friend shared revelations of the agency’s alleged conduct during Saturday’s “Unfiltered with Dan Bongino” after what he said was his experience.

Friend had worked as a field agent in Florida when he said he noticed that “the rules were not being followed as they are set out in our investigation guide” to track down participants on January 6.

He said he made a protective disclosure to his supervisor in August 2021 to raise those concerns ahead of the arrest and search operations on certain topics.

Asked about his thoughts on whether DC’s central office transmitting directives was motivated by politics or some investigative need for this case, Friend said he asked supervisors who said that when they inquired about it, they were told he needed to get a “buy-in” from the field.

He said it’s not a term he knew.

“I can only speculate on the reasons,” he said.

Presenter Dan Bongino noted that “Unfiltered” contacted the FBI with a response that the agency had no statements on the matter at this time.

Friend said he knows the end result is a “flattening of a large number of riot cases and potential internal terrorist investigations from an incident and January 6, 2021, in one place.”

“These were scattered across the country and provided misleading statistics on the appearance that domestic terrorism was, in fact, a widespread national issue rather than a one-off incident,” he said.

Friend added that a number of retired and current agents have contacted him about the case.

“I think the oath we took when we became special agents has a meaning,” he said. “I liked to say that the oath does not retire, it is not suspended. The FBI’s motto of fidelity, courage and integrity must mean something to the people who are working on its daily cases, and I hope others will come forward and do it right the right way: do their protective revelations to make sure he takes care of it, but it’s time to step forward. “

“It’s time to really be the people we’ve been called to [be] when we initially applied to become FBI special agents. ”
